On the morning of 21 September, the Tsentralnaya Hotel in the centre of Cherkasy was destroyed by a Russian missile attack. The building was destroyed from the second to the fifth floor. The hotel housed people and rented out office space; there may have been 23 people in the building at the time of the attack. The blast shattered glass in houses. According to the State Emergency Service, there were 11 victims (two in serious condition) and 13 evacuees. At the same time, the Ministry of Interior put the death toll at 10. A missile warhead fell on the hotel. There was also a fire in the shopping pavilions of the nearby market.
